Locked & Loaded WA Throwers – See you at The Big Event to create some history!
In an Australian first, Juniors, Opens and Masters will compete in this multi-event format that includes the Throws Pentathlon Saturday, September 16 and Heavy Weight Pentathlon on Sunday, September 17. This event also marks the first hosted by the newly affiliated Western Australian Throwers Club.
The Throws Pentathlon (Hammer, Shot Put, Discus, Javelin and Weight Throw) is an awesome event challenging athletes’ flexibility, physical strength and mental stamina. Competitors will compete in their relevant age category, and implements will be appropriate to that category. Each discipline is scored using tables in the same way as the Decathlon and Heptathlon, with the aggregate of the five scores providing results.
It’s a World Championship Masters event, and we will have a number of current World Champions competing. We want Juniors and Opens to experience that great multi event throwing feeling.
The Heavy Weight Pentathlon is sensational, too! Weight Throw is a similar implement to a Hammer, but just the ball and a handle. Athletes will throw five different weights with one weight at your designated age group and then 2 below and 2 above.
Come on down and part of something special that we want to do annually.
Great Trophies and high quality medals will be awarded to placegetters in each category, as well as the President’s Award for the Most Outstanding Performance.
As the inaugural event, all winners will set WATC club records for each of the Pentathlons. Additionally individual events within the TP & HWP will count as records, too. As fully sanctioned competitions, any State or National records set will be ratified and sent into the Australian Statistician for Track and Field.
